The algal bloom in South Australia is still moving and changing — and because it's affected by weather and ocean currents, it’s hard to predict exactly where it’ll go next.

Current impacted areas include:

  • Adelaide’s metropolitan beaches
  • Port River and West Lakes
  • Yorke Peninsula (including Troubridge Point)
  • Kangaroo Island (Investigator Strait)
  • Spencer Gulf (east and west coasts)
  • The Coorong’s North Lagoon
  • Coastline between Victor Harbor and Robe
  • Eyre Peninsula surrounding Port Lincoln and Lucky Bay

What are the latest testing results?

Latest results show the presence of Karenia (the type of algae) at all 18 metropolitan testing locations, which include estuarine sites and jetties.

They also show the presence of Karenia at 7 of the 23 Coorong testing locations.

Read the algal bloom update on the PIRSA website for the latest testing results.

Live testing results are shared via the SA Algal Bloom Water Sampling Dashboard. Testing is currently along metropolitan coastline and the Coorong.
